K-Park Training Academy, Sunday 1st May 2016, Kick-Off: 2pm
Celtic will look to get their title challenge back on track this afternoon as they host Spartans.
At the beginning of the season, people attached the tag of ‘dark horses’ to Celtic to challenge for the title. And with the recent signing of Scottish international Christie Murray – belief that Celtic could cause an upset amplified.
But the past two Sundays have dampened those expectations. They looked like they had battled to a 1-0 win over a very tough Stirling side but then conceded two late goals to lose. And then last Sunday, they were blown away by Hibs in the first half – but should be proud of how they responded by nearly fighting back to secure a point.
Spartans, on the other hand, will arrive at K-Park looking to continue on from last Sunday. After winning their two opening league fixtures, to briefly sit top of the table, they then went on a run that saw them lose three matches in all competitions.
But last Sunday, they welcomed Stirling to Ainslie Park and battled to a 3-1 win in a feisty encounter that saw Stirling have a player sent off.
That win saw Spartans move up to fourth, behind third-placed Rangers only on goal difference. If they win today, they could possibly overtake Hibernian in second place. A win for Celtic could see them move back up to third.
