Rangers v Forfar Farmington – Match Preview – SWPL 1

New Tinto Park, Sunday 1st May 2016, Kick-off: 2pm.

Rangers host a Forfar Farmington side looking to pick up their first points of the season.

Despite their hit-and-miss form in the league, Rangers go into the match in third place in the SWPL 1 table. And they will be looking to make sure they go into next Sunday’s League Cup Semi-Final tie against Hibernian, full of confidence.

Before last Sunday, all their victories this season had been at home, so when they travelled to Aberdeen, the odds were that Aberdeen would win. But Rangers produced one of the performances of the season, as a late goal from Lisa Swanson saw them win 2-1.

On the other hand, Forfar Farmington has only picked up one win in all competitions – and that was the League Cup win over Hearts. However, despite sitting with no points, there have been signs of improvement over the past two Sundays. They have played the top two sides in the country, Hibernian and Glasgow City, and have pushed both closer than expected. In fact, last Sunday, Forfar became the first side to score against City this season.

Whilst, it is too early for Forfar to get worried, they will not be wanting this run to last much longer. And despite Rangers’ strong home form, they can take great heart from their last two matches.

A win for Rangers could see them move up to second whilst a Forfar victory could see them move up to seventh.
