New Tinto Park, Kick-Off: 2pm
A key game in the hunt for the fourth spot sees Rangers entertain Spartans at New Tinto Park. The teams are meeting the day after yesterday’s tragic incident where a Rangers’ Supporters bus suffered a fatal crash. The thoughts of Tartan Kicks go out to the victim and the injured, as well as their friends and families.
Rangers has dipped back into a period of poor form. After winning their first two games after the break, Rangers has lost their past four matches and if they want to finish in the top half of the SWPL 1, they will need to win this game. They now find themselves in sixth place, and with the gap between the two clubs now four points, Spartans know the importance of this game.
Spartans sit in fourth and know a win today could all but keep Rangers from challenging for fourth. In that scenario, the gap becomes seven points with three points left. But Spartans themselves will have to have a turnaround in form too, having picked up just four points out of the six games since the break.
The two league games between the two sides this season has been close – with each time, the home side winning 1-0.
If Spartans lose, they can drop down to fifth place, but a draw or better keep them fourth. On the other hand, if Rangers win and Stirling lose, they will move up to fifth.
