Saughton Enclosure, Kick-Off: 2pm
Hutchison Vale and Jeanfield Swifts meet at Saughton Enclosure in the only game today in the SWPL 2 that does not influence either the title or relegation race.
However, both sides are battling for fourth place. Currently, it is Hutchison Vale who occupy fourth spot and lead Jeanfield Swifts by six points – so a victory will all but secure fourth spot for them. Since beating Hearts in the league back in August, Hutchie has suffered a series of poor results, not helped by injuries although that isn’t something they would use as an excuse. They lost back-to-back games to Glasgow Girls and Buchan (as well as being knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Hearts) but last Sunday, they bounced back into form – beating Inverness City 5-0.
Jeanfield Swifts has played two title contenders in their past two games and lost them both in contrasting circumstances. The first was a painful 6-0 defeat to Hamilton, the second was a closer 1-0 loss to Hearts. That run ended a period of three wins out of four matches, and they need to get back to winning ways if they are to secure a top-half finish that their early form suggested was possible.
The first game between these sides ended in a 0-0 draw whilst the second played in June, was won by Hutchie 4-2. Regardless of the result, both teams will end the day in their current position.
