Hearts and Hutchison Vale produced a thriller in the all-SWPL 2 Scottish Women’s Cup Quarter-Final with the rearranged tie proving worth the wait.

Hutchison Vale took the lead in the tenth minute from Ella Devlin’s left-footed strike from outside the area, and the score would remain 1-0 at half-time with Hutchie having keeper Charlotte Parker-Smith to thank for a couple of superb saves.

Early into the second half, though, Hearts equalised through Rachel Walkingshaw.

Hearts then took the lead in controversial circumstances. When one of the Hearts players was injured, the Hutchie keeper kicked the ball out to allow treatment. Play resumed with Hearts kicking back to the Hutchie keeper, only for Stacey Hutchison to score directly. Hearts allowed Hutchie to walk the ball into their net to bring the scores level.

The home side retook the lead through Ashley Carse.

But, the tie would go into extra-time when Hutchie equalised in second-half stoppage time. Beth McLeod’s cross picked out Ashley Fish at the far post who scored.

However, it would be Hearts who would progress thanks to Rachel Walkingshaw’s world-class free-kick.

Hearts will now play Hibernian in the Semi-Finals.
