Glasgow City produced a superb performance to beat Rangers 7-0 to remain five points clear of second-placed Hibernian. The game was significant for captain Leanne Ross drawing level with Suzanne Lappin on 231 goals as the club’s top goal scorer.
City took the lead in the tenth minute. Fiona Brown’s powerful shot was superbly saved by Rangers’ keeper Borthwick, but Julie Fleeting was there to score from the rebound.
Three minutes later, the home side doubled their advantage when Cheryl McCulloch scored from a corner.
In the 24th minute, it was 3-0 when Leanne Ross’ cross was brilliantly headed in by Clare Shine before Erin Cuthbert gave City a 4-0 lead just after the half-hour mark.
It took until the 61st minute for City to score their fifth, but when they did, it was a moment of history when Leanne Ross’ free-kick found the net, and equalling the club’s top-scorer record.
Second half sub Hayley Rosen’s cross provided City’s sixth via Fleeting who scored her second goal of the game.
Rosen was involved in their final goal in the 89th minute, when lovely interplay saw her set up Hayley Lauder whose shot for the bottom corner.
