K-Park, 21 August 2016, Kick-Off: 2pm
Celtic host an Aberdeen side looking to get their first points under their new management team, whilst the home team look to strengthen their grip on third.
The chances of Celtic breaking into the top two look slim at the moment, with the gap between Hibs in second and Celtic in third now ten points. But, they aren’t going to stop trying, and they know they still have to play them again in the league, and the Edinburgh club might drop points. And, third place is hardly secure as Celtic sit two points ahead of Spartans who they beat last Sunday.
Aberdeen would happily swap places with Celtic in the league at the moment. If they are not careful, they are in real danger of being dragged into the relegation battle with Stirling University and Forfar Farmington. In fact, if Stirling wins their game today, it may be just between Aberdeen and Forfar. After losing to Stirling last week, Aberdeen is now three points behind sixth, and four points ahead of the relegation place. They need to get points on the board, and will look to take away at least a point from Celtic.
Earlier in the season, Celtic narrowly beat Aberdeen 1-0.
