Celtic returned to third in the SWPL 1 after ending Spartans’ four-game unbeaten league run with a 2-0 win.
It was the visitors who started the strongest, and they nearly took the lead through Ruesha Littlejohn, but she was denied by a wonder save from Spartans’ keeper Eartha Cumings.
But the away side did then take the lead when Littlejohn’s cross picked out Heather Richards who found the back of the net to score her first goal for Celtic.
Spartans could have equalised through Alana Marshall, but her attempt was denied by Megan Cunningham’s save.
Kirsty Howat had a couple of good opportunities to extend Celtic’s lead, but at half-time, the score was 1-0 to the visitors.
Early in the second half, Littlejohn had a chance to make it 2-0, but once again she was denied by Cumings.
Spartans also came close to equalising, however, they were denied by Cunningham’s super save from Katie Reilly’s header.
But then, Celtic did score their second. Littlejohn chased down Cumings clearance, Natalie Ross had an attempt and then Howat got the crucial touch to send it over the line.
