Glasgow City went into their match against Forfar Farmington knowing that they had to win to be sure of staying top and Forfar were looking to move away from the bottom. Forfar gave a debut to Caitlin Mitchell.
City gave debuts to Hayley Rosen and Keeva Keenan and Rosen assisted City’s opener from a free-kick in the 20th minute which was headed in by Lauren McMurchie. Soon after, Leanne Ross scored a solo goal to double the SWPL 1 leaders’ lead.
Rosen turned provider once again for the third in the 40th minute, this time, converted by Fiona Brown who scored with a precise finish. A handball gave City a penalty, which Ross converted to make it 4-0. And on the stroke of half-time, Savannah McCarthy scored.
In the first minute of the second half, City made it 6-o through Erin Cuthbert, but Julie Fleeting scored minutes later.
Forfar had a chance to pull a goal back when Kayleigh Noble was fouled by Carla Boyce, but Holly Napier’s effort was saved by City’s keeper Gemma Fay.
A Ross corner picked out Fleeting who headed in City’s eighth goal.
In the final minute, Forfar could have scored a consolation but Jade McLaren’s header was clawed off the line by Fay.
