Celtic picked up a crucial 2-0 win over Stirling University as they kept the gap to second place to seven points. Earlier in the season, Stirling had picked up a shock 2-1 win and like that game, all the goals came in the second half.
The home side started well, and Kelly Clark tested the keeper with a free-kick.
Clark had two further great chances in the second half, but each time she drew out a superb save from the Stirling keeper Chloe Logan.
And just before half-time, Joanne Paton played Abbi Grant through, but her shot just went wide.
Christie Murray had a good chance early in the second half, but her effort just went wide.
But in the 59th minute, Celtic took the lead. Suzanne Mulvey slid into direct Alex Middleton’s cross into the back of the net. That was Mulvey’s first touch, scoring just seconds after coming on as a substitute.
Murray and Grant both had good chances soon after, but in the 80th minute, Celtic doubled their lead when Courtney Whyte headed in from a corner.
It could have been 3-0 late on, but Georgie Rafferty’s fierce shot was magnificently saved by Logan.
