Glasgow City bounced back after last Sunday’s shock defeat with a 1-0 win over Aberdeen. This is the third time these two sides have met this season, and once again, City won 1-0 thanks to a Clare Shine goal.
City had a good chance early on, but Hayley Lauder’s shot was deflected wide.
Around the half-hour mark, Lauren McMurchie’s strike just went wide of the post.
Clare Shine then had a couple of efforts brilliantly saved by the Aberdeen keeper Becky Flaherty.
Late on in the first half, it was only the woodwork that saved Aberdeen as McMurchie’s header hit the crossbar.
But, in the 65th minute, Glasgow City took the lead. Keeva Keenan’s cross picked out Clare Shine and she converted the chance. Since joining City in May 2015, Shine has scored four times in four City 1-0 wins.
Erin Cuthbert had a couple of chances late on to extend City’s lead, but the SWPL 1 leaders picked up a critical win.
