Glasgow City will look to get over their SWPL Cup disappointment as they host Spartans in the SWPL 1.
Last Wednesday, Glasgow City lost their first final since 2007 as Lizzie Arnot’s last-gasp winner saw Hibernian win 2-1.
But, with a team of winners, they will be keen to bounce back with a win to continue their battle to win their tenth league title in a row, which would be a historic moment in Scottish Football. And, whilst the disappointment will exist, this was their first defeat this season – and their first domestic defeat since September 2014.
Spartans, on the other hand, will be looking to get over their own cup heartbreak – having lost to Hamilton Academical on penalties in the Scottish Cup. But, in their previous SWPL 1, they picked up their first away win of the season – as they beat Forfar Farmington 3-0.
Earlier in the season, Glasgow City beat Spartans 8-0 at Ainslie Park, which to date, is City’s biggest win of the league’s season as well as Spartans’ biggest defeat. There is no doubt that Spartans will be looking to improve on that performance.
City will maintain their eight-point lead at the top with a win, whilst Spartans could move up to fourth win a win.
