SWPL 2 side Jeanfield Swifts produced a brilliant performance to beat SWFL Division Two North’s Ross County in their first ever Scottish Women’s Cup game at McDiarmid Park.
Debutant Leila Strachan took just five minutes to pick up her first assist with a super cross that Alex Fox headed in.
Eilidh McIntyre and Danni McGinley both scored braces to give Jeanfield a 5-0 lead after just 25 minutes.
McIntyre completed her hat-trick, before Strachan picked up a second assist, this time picking out Erin Thatcher who scored with a side-footed volley. Unfortunately, Strachan had to go off injured with her replacement Rachel Todd assisting the second of McIntyre’s next two goals – giving Jeanfield a 9-0 lead at half-time.
The second half started the same way as the first with an Alex Fox goal, making it 10-0, before McGinley completed her hat-trick. Minutes later, Donna Shaw made it 12-0.
Thatcher then scored a superb solo goal, beating three defenders before calmly finishing. And then, McGinley completed scored her fourth from a Fox assist.
Headers from Jade McDonald and Nicola Martin made it 16-0 to Jeanfield, and then Emma MacLean further extended their lead from the edge of the box.
And then, just before full-time, Fox completed her hat-trick to secure an 18-0 win.
