Stirling University v Westerlands – Scottish Women’s Cup Second Round – Match Preview

University of Stirling, 12 June 2016, Kick-Off: 2pm.

The bottom-placed SWPL 1 side Stirling University host Westerlands who play in the SWFL Division One South.

Stirling University finds themselves bottom of the SWPL 1, but now only on goal difference thanks to their 1-0 win over Rangers before the international break. Their SWPL Cup run came to an end in the First Round when they lost 5-1 to Spartans after extra-time, having taken the lead in extra-time time, only for the goal to be ruled out for a foul.

Westerlands sit in eighth place in the Division One South, having picked up three wins in their eight games so far. They had won their opening two games, including a 6-0 win over Hearts U23, but they had to wait until May 15 to pick up their third win – beating Boroughmuir Thistle 3-0. Westerlands had reached the Quarter-Finals of the SWFL Division One Cup, where they lost 7-1 to Motherwell.

This is Stirling’s first game of this year’s Scottish Cup, whereas Westerlands beat Bayside 8-1 in the First Round.
