SWPL 1 Hibernian start their campaign, looking to go one step further than their runners-up spot last season, as they host fellow Edinburgh side Boroughmuir Thistle, who play in the SWFL Division One South.
Hibernian will be disappointed by their league position, having slipped eight points behind Glasgow City, although they do have a game in hand. But, since losing to Glasgow City at the beginning of May, they have been in superb form in the league – winning all three games and scoring 18 goals without reply. They’ve also reached the SWPL Cup Final.
Boroughmuir Thistle sits ninth in the First Division South, having picked up just three points. Those points came in an impressive 5-1 win over FC Kilmarnock in March. In the SWFL First Division Cup, they were knocked out in the Second Round on penalties by Celtic Academy, after drawing 2-2.
In the First Round of the Scottish Women’s Cup, Boroughmuir Thistle narrowly beat FC Kilmarnock 3-2.
