Stirling University struck late against Rangers through Emma Lyons’ close-range finish to pick up their second win of the season.
Both sides had corners in the opening ten minutes, but neither really threatened their respective opponents’ defence.
But in the 15th minute, Rangers had a great chance to take the lead as Clare Gemmell played Chantelle Brown through, and after the Stirling keeper misjudged the bounce, Rebecca Blair managed to clear the ball off the line.
Stirling then had a great chance to score as Nicole Pullar’s knock-on set up Rebecca Galbraith, but she shot straight at Rangers’ keeper Laura Hamilton.
On the half-hour mark, a through-ball split the Stirling defence finding Hayley Sinclair but she was denied by Choe Logan’s save.
Late on in the second half, Rangers’ Chantelle Brown had a couple of superb chances to take the lead. Lauren Doran-Barr picked out Brown but her shot smashed off the crossbar. And then, Brown was denied by a wonder save from Logan.
But in the 88th minute, Stirling scored the winner. Rebecca Blair’s free-kick was brought down by Pullar who crossed the ball back to Emma Lyons to score from six yards.
Stirling remains eighth, but only behind Forfar Farmington on goal difference whilst Rangers are still in fourth place.
