Excelsior Stadium, Monday 23 May, Kick-off:7:45pm
Glasgow City host Stirling University this evening in a rare Monday evening SWPL 1 match.
Glasgow City is looking unstoppable at the moment in all competitions, using their deep squad to win all ten games they have played in the SWPL 1 and SWPL Cup. But today, although they play a team with just three points, they know they have a challenge on their hands.
Since reaching their tenth domestic cup final, they have continued their 100% start to the league with a hard-fought win over Rangers.
There are some people talking about Glasgow City having already won the title, but it is clearly far too early to talk that way – and today’s match is against one of the toughest opposition in the SWPL 1.
Stirling University has continued to receive plaudits for their high-pressing and counter-attacking play, but will go into this game possibly bottom of the SWPL 1.
This should not mean people should take them lightly. They have already beaten Celtic this season, and in the game with City earlier on in the season, they limited City’s attack to one goal. Their defence is more than capable of frustrating one of the best attacking lineups in the league.
Whatever the result, City will remain top whilst Stirling University could move up to sixth with a victory.
