Although they have played one less game than Glasgow City, Hibernian now find themselves eight points behind the SWPL 1 leaders. After reaching the 2016 SWPL Cup Final last weekend, they will know the importance of winning today.

The reason for this comes after their defeat to Glasgow City two weeks ago, and although it is far too early to judge the impact on their title challenge, there is no doubt that it poses a question on whether they can pose a real threat.

But, by beating Spartans today, they will show that they have returned to their league form.

However, Spartans are a difficult side to beat, although so far they have struggled on the road. But recently, their form has started to worsen. In their past three matches, they have suffered two heavy defeats: 8-0 to Glasgow City and 6-0 to Celtic.

But, saying that, they possess enough to cause Hibernian real problems today – and they only sit one point behind them in the league.

A win for Hibs could see them move back up to second place, whilst Spartans can move up to second win a win and a huge goal swing.
