This Sunday, Hibernian continue their hunt to win the League Cup for the first time since 2011, whilst Rangers look to reach their first ever final.

Rangers will see reaching the Final as a huge achievement as they continue their transition, after a disappointing 2015. They too have added quality with players like Rhonda Jones, Jill Paterson and Danica Danziel – and they will have to be at their very best to beat Hibernian.

And they will go into the match in great form, having won their last three games.

After the heartbreak of 2015 where Hibernian reached both domestic finals only to lose to Glasgow City, they will be looking to go one step further this season. Having strengthened their attacking options with signings like Abbie Grant, Caroline Heron and Sarah Ewens, they have a great chance of doing so.

Hibs will be going into the match on the back of the disappointment of losing to Glasgow City last Sunday.

With extra-time and penalties, anything can happen, and both sides will look back at the previous game between the clubs with contrasting views.

That game played on the 13th March 2016 at Albyn Park, was won by Hibernian 3-1. In the first half, Hibs were dominant and could have scored more than their three goals. However, Rangers came out in the second half more disciplined defensively and showed more of an attacking threat –deservedly scoring late on.

What The Managers Say

“We are all looking forward to today’s game in the league cup semi-final. Since pre-season, the players and staff have worked so hard on and off the pitch. Games like today are the rewards of their hard work and fully deserve their place in today’s semi-final. We know Hibs will be favourites and have a fantastic squad as well as a good manager in Chris Roberts. However, we won’t go into this game fazed and will approach the game in a positive manner. Confidence is high after some good results and we will take this renewed confidence into today’s fixture. I hope for all those attending it’s an exciting spectacle and thanks to you all for supporting women’s football. Hope you enjoy the game”

Rangers’ Head Coach Kevin Murphy

It’s great to be back at Ainslie Park for another big cup game. The venue certainly fits the occasion and we are excited by the prospect of another final. Rangers are a very tough team though and our full attention will be on the task at hand. The recent run of form from Kevin’s side indicates just how difficult today will be. The team is fully prepared and well up for the game.
