Ainslie Park, Sunday 8th May, Kick-off: 3pm

Taken from Glasgow City’s 1-0 win over Aberdeen on 17 April 2016
This Sunday sees the SWP League Cup holders Glasgow City will be looking to reach their fifth consecutive League Cup Final and their tenth consecutive domestic cup Final.
But they come up against a difficult Aberdeen side who City have struggled to break down in recent times, who are looking to reach their first ever League Cup final.
During the start of the season, Aberdeen struggled in the league, picking up just one point from their opening four games. Saying that, they took points off Hibernian in a goalless draw and came close to frustrating Glasgow City. But last Sunday saw them win their first league game of the season, beating Stirling University.
Glasgow City’s season has been interesting so far. At the start, they weren’t scoring the number of goals we expect, but still picked up the wins. But in recent times, this changed as they thrashed Spartans 8-0 and last Sunday beat Hibs 2-0. Their side has changed a lot – losing players like Abbie Grant, Denise O’Sullivan and Kerry Montgomery – and whilst they have brought in experience, they’ve also trusted a lot of young players like Savannah McCarthy, Brogan Hay and Sam Kerr. And this transition has seemed to have gone smoothly as they once again look to reach another domestic cup final.

What The Managers Say
“We are delighted to be competing in another Semi-Final day, it’s always a great occasion for everyone involved at the club. We are very much looking forward to the tie against Glasgow City.
Having faced City already in the League this season, we are well aware of the talent they have throughout their squad. There is no doubt we are underdogs and will have to be at our absolute best to progress to the final.
Having said that, the squad have worked extremely hard and have prepared well for today’s game. Being edged out by the odd goal in the last few encounters proves that we have come a long way over the last couple of years. If we can defend well today and play with confidence going forward hopefully we can secure a place in the final.”
Aberdeen’s Manager Allan Smith
“We are all really looking forward to the Semi Final against Aberdeen. It will be a very tough match because Aberdeen is a well-organised side. We were able to win our last match against them but only by a single goal. Getting through is our priority at this stage in the competition and it would be nice to know we have another League Cup final on the horizon.”
Glasgow City’s Head Coach Scott Booth
