Hamilton Academical v Hearts – Match Preview – SWPL2

New Douglas Park, Kick-Off: 4pm

This is the game of the day in the SWPL 2, and will be covered by Tartan Kicks as first takes on second in the SWPL 2. Two points separate Hamilton and Hearts with both sides unbeaten in the league.

Hamilton was named by many as the pre-title favourites, and how they’ve started, you can see exactly why. They are the overall top scorers in the whole SWPL structure and have won each game by at least a two-goal margin. The only goals they’ve conceded have been on their travels, and these came in a 5-3 win over Inverness and a 10-1 thrashing of Queen’s Park – a match where the scoreline could have been even greater.

At New Douglas Park, Hamilton has been just as dominant, if not as free-scoring. The two games at home have seen them beat Jeanfield Swifts 4-0 and Glasgow Girls 2-0.

Hearts have also had an impressive start to the league season. After drawing their opening game away to Buchan, they have won three games in a row. Like Hamilton, they have yet to concede a goal at home, and whilst they have scored three goals less than Hamilton, they have conceded one less. Their other away game saw them beat Jeanfield Swifts 4-1 in an impressive performance.

At home, they’ve thrashed the two bottom sides Inverness City 7-0 and Queen’s Park 5-0.

This will be a match not to miss. The winner will end the day in first, but if Hearts lose, they could drop to third.
