Champions Glasgow City entertain an Aberdeen side in a warm-up for their SWP League Cup Semi-Final match next month.
Glasgow City has a 100% record without conceding a goal, but their results so far show the strength in the SWPL 1. Their opening match was against Stirling University which they won 1-0, frustrated by an impressive rearguard action. And then in their second match, they once again won by 1-0, this time against a Celtic team that has strengthened heavily in the pre-season.
Compare this to their SWP League Cup results, both against SWPL 2 sides – beating Inverness City 14-0 and Glasgow Girls 10-0.
Aberdeen may not have won a league game yet, but they arrive at the Excelsior off the back of an impressive goalless draw against Hibernian. This was after losing their opening fixture to Spartans, with the winner from Alana Marshall an early contender for goal of the season.
In the SWP League Cup, though, they’ve found a winning formula. They won their First Round tie against Jeanfield Swifts 5-0, before gaining revenge against Spartans in the Quarter-Finals with an impressive 5-1 victory.
Glasgow City can go top with a win, whilst Aberdeen could move up to fourth if they beat City.
