Celtic began their league campaign with an impressive 4-0 win over Forfar Farmington which saw them top the table. But when they travelled to Excelsior Stadium to take on Glasgow City, they fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat to City. Despite losing, they put in the type of performance that has people talking about them being a dark horse for the title. It is possible that new signing Christie Murray may make her debut.

On the other hand, Rangers began their season with a defeat. They travelled to Hibernian, and after a poor first half, they were trailing the Edinburgh club 3-0. But in the second half, they put in a much-improved performance and pulled a late goal back through Chantelle Brown. Their second game was at home, and they put in an impressive performance to beat Stirling University 4-1.

Last season, Celtic won two of the games between the sides – although Rangers won the first game.

A Celtic win will see them go up to first, something that Rangers can do also although they would have to win by at least two goals.
